League recap: Peyton breaks off league-leading run for Perkins-Tryon

3A District 2 recap Oct. 9, 2012

Jacob Peyton of Perkins-Tryon ran for the longest rushing play in 3A District 2 this season against Prague last week. Peyton scampered for 76 yards on the play and finished with 136 on the day as his team topped the Red Devils.

Cushing took down Henryetta 63-18 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Caleb White and Tyler Taff gave Perkins-Tryon a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. White threw for 52 yards and one touchdown, while Taff ran for 138 yards.

Dalton Stout was the best wideout in the league this week as Bethany fell to Seminole. Stout racked up two receptions for 23 yards. Zech Kalfas helped Bethany's passing attack out by catching one ball for 12 yards.

Bethany's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bronchos feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Kyle Duke has thrown for 979 yards and four touchdowns this season, while John Page has 21 catches for 243 yards. Duke also leads the league in rushing with 357 yards.

A big matchup in 3A District 2 this week will be when Lloyd Wertman's team takes on Bristow. At the moment, the Demons are in fourth, while the Pirates are in third.

The Tigers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,417 from 3,640. The improvement came about via a 63-18 victory over the Knights last week.
