Baseball Game Preview: Spring Woods Tigers vs. Humble Wildcats

The Spring Woods Tigers will take on the Humble Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Spring Woods came up short against Carnegie Vanguard and fell 6-3. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Rhinos: they've now lost four in a row.

Spring Woods saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Barbosa, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Humble posted their biggest win since April 23, 2024 on Tuesday. They put the hurt on MacArthur with a sharp 9-3 victory.

Jordan Orozco made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Humble let Jalen Lolesio and Anthony Hines run wild. Lolesio went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double, while Hines scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Hines also stole a stolen base, marking his first of the season.

Spring Woods' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Humble, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5-1.

Everything went Spring Woods' way against Humble when the teams last played back in March of 2021, as Spring Woods made off with a 15-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Spring Woods since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
