Preview: Perkins Pirates vs. Glenville Tarblooders
The Perkins Pirates have the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome the Glenville Tarblooders at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard on Friday.
Perkins extended their postseason success on Friday against West Holmes. They enjoyed a cozy 38-21 win over the Knights. Given Perkins' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 21st, while West Holmes is ranked 128th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Perkins' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaac Bunts led the charge by rushing for 152 yards and two touchdowns. Logan Lesch was another key contributor, throwing for 239 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75.9% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Glenville can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They blew past Shelby, posting a 50-14 victory at home. The win was nothing new for Glenville as they're now sitting on five straight.
Perkins pushed their record up to 12-0 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 11-2 Edison and 10-2 Rocky River (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 58% over those games). As for Glenville, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
