Geneva has gone 6-1 against West Chicago recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Vikings will challenge the Wildcats at 8:30 a.m.

Last Tuesday, Geneva came up short against Wheaton-Warrenville South and fell 2-0.

The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-18.

Meanwhile, West Chicago waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Green Wave by a score of 2-0.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant West Chicago was: they took both sets by at least 14 points. The final score came out to 25-8, 25-11.

West Chicago's win came from a few key players Geneva will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Phillip Cabrera, who had six aces. Those six aces gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Omar Lutifiyev, who had ten digs and one assist.

West Chicago was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Edward didn't served any aces.

West Chicago pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Geneva, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Geneva came out on top in a nail-biter against West Chicago when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
