On Thursday, everything went Notre Dame's way against Vista del Lago as Notre Dame made off with a 13-1 victory. Considering the Titans have won three games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Notre Dame let Teresa Avila and Shea McCann run wild. Avila went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while McCann scored four runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Mikey Rodriguez, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.
Notre Dame kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vista del Lago only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, Paloma Valley entered their tilt with Santiago on Thursday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They had just enough and edged out the Sharks 3-1.
Kaydence Koepsell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lynda Guerra, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. Brooklyn Berni also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Notre Dame's record is now 3-0-1. As for Paloma Valley, their record now sits at 3-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Notre Dame hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Paloma Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Notre Dame might still be hurting after the 13-2 loss they got from Paloma Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Can Notre Dame avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
