Softball Recap: Cambria Heights Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Cambria Heights started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Purchase Line. They fell just short of the Red Dragons by a score of 6-5 on Thursday. The Highlanders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Ellie Bender was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Gina Lane also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Cambria Heights' loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-2. As for Purchase Line, the win keeps they at an undefeated 4-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cambria Heights will host Moshannon Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Purchase Line, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Blacklick Valley at 4:30 p.m.
