Baseball Recap: Bloomfield Bengals vs. West Orange Mountaineers
Bloomfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Orange Mountaineers. If the Bengals were looking for revenge after losing 11-1 to the Mountaineers when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Noah Attas was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Bloomfield is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-14 otherwise. Attas was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Sean Sayers was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Bloomfield's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for West Orange, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season.
Bloomfield will be playing at home against Montclair Kimberley Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for West Orange, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-3 win against Glen Ridge on the 16th.
