Football Recap: Lake Gibson Comes Up Short

Lake Gibson made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Sebring, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Braves fell just short of the Blue Streaks by a score of 31-28 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Braves in their meetings with the Blue Streaks: they've now lost three in a row.

Sebring's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Laquest Brown led the charge by throwing for 164 yards and two TDs on only 15 passes. Brown's passing game has become a key predictor of the Blue Streaks' success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-4 otherwise. Sebring also got a significant boost from Allan Paul, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.

Lake Gibson's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Sebring, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Gibson will square off against DeLand at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sebring, they will face off against Lake Brantley at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
