Basketball Preview: Salpointe Catholic Lancers vs. Paradise Honors Panthers
The Salpointe Catholic Lancers will head out on the road to square off against the Paradise Honors Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Salpointe Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday.
Salpointe Catholic unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak. They fell just short of Mica Mountain by a score of 44-42.
Despite their defeat, Salpointe Catholic saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Joey Castillo, who scored nine points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was M. J. Gedebou, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Paradise Honors pushed their score all the way to 65 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Moon Valley. Paradise Honors has not had much luck with the Rockets recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Salpointe Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Paradise Honors, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-11.
Salpointe Catholic and the Panthers were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but the Lancers came up empty-handed after a 60-59 loss. Can Salpointe Catholic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
