Volleyball Game Preview: Hamilton-Wenham Regional Generals vs. Lynnfield Pioneers

Hamilton-Wenham Regional hasn't had much luck against Lynnfield recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Generals will venture away from home to take on the Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, Hamilton-Wenham Regional was able to grind out a solid win over Georgetown, taking the game 3-1.

Hamilton-Wenham Regional was especially dominant in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 27-25, 13-25, 25-15.

Lynnfield extended their road winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Elliana Moretti. The Pioneers blew past Ipswich 3-0 on Tuesday for which the team can thank Moretti, who had 18 digs and eight assists. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 17 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

One reason for the win was Lynnfield's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-17, 25-15.

Lynnfield's win came from a few key players Hamilton-Wenham Regional will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Carina DeLeo, who had 13 assists and five digs. Christine Choi also deserves some recognition as she had her first kills of the season.

Hamilton-Wenham Regional's record is now 6-7. As for Lynnfield, their record now sits at 12-2.

Hamilton-Wenham Regional suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Lynnfield in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Generals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
