Baseball Recap: Carencro Takes a Loss

Carencro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the New Iberia Yellowjackets, falling 12-0. The Bears were not able to make up for their defeat to the Yellowjackets from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Banyon Theriot was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Carencro saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joseph Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Those two hits gave Johnson a new career-high.

Carencro's loss dropped their record down to 5-21. As for New Iberia, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.

While Carencro had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
