Baseball Recap: Handley Triumphs

Handley owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over the Millbrook Pioneers. This was a revenge game for the Judges: when they faced off against the Pioneers back in March, they had to take a 3-1 loss.

Millbrook's batters probably weren't too happy with Jake Swartz, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (he gave up three walks). Swartz also allowed no hits, which is notable because Handley is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 3-8 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Charlie Allen, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

The victory made it two in a row for Handley and bumps their season record up to 5-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Millbrook, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-8.
