Softball Game Preview: Northeastern Clinton Cougars vs. AuSable Valley Patriots

The Northeastern Clinton Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the AuSable Valley Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Northeastern Clinton has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Northeastern Clinton came up short against Ticonderoga on Thursday, falling 16-9.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between AuSable Valley and Plattsburgh, and Plattsburgh kept the tradition alive. The Patriots took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hornets on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 37 runs in the game before, the Patriots' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Northeastern Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for AuSable Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Northeastern Clinton was able to grind out a solid win over AuSable Valley when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 8-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
