Softball Preview: Adrian Antelopes vs. Wilder Wildcats
After three games on the road, Adrian is heading back home. After both having extra time off, they and the Wilder Wildcats will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
Adrian fell victim to Parma and their airtight pitching crew last Thursday. They suffered a tough 19-0 loss at the hands of the Panthers.
Meanwhile, Wilder has not done well against Notus recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Tuesday. Everything went Wilder's way against Notus as Wilder made off with a 17-7 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for Wilder.
N. Escutia made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Escutia has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings every time she's pitched this season. Escutia was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Wilder got a massive performance out of G. Perez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of A. Scott, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Adrian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Wilder, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1.
Adrian took their victory against Wilder when the teams last played back in May of 2019 by a conclusive 25-7. Does Adrian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wilder turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
