McDowell hasn't had much luck against State College recently, but that could start to change on November 7. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. McDowell has given up an average of 31.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
McDowell will face State College after dropping another heartbreaker against St. Francis on Friday, which marked the second time in a row the team's come within three of beating them. The Trojans fell 35-28 to the Red Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 126th in Pennsylvania, while the Red Raiders are ranked sixth in New York).
Meanwhile, State College ended up a good deal behind Bishop McDevitt on Friday and lost 36-20. The contest marked the Little Lions' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
McDowell will need to focus on slowing down Connor Kulka, one of several State College players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns. State College's leading receiver Anderson Aj Fry was Kulka's top target yet again, picking up 109 receiving yards and one score.
McDowell's record now sits at 3-7. As for State College, they suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 8-2.
McDowell was taken down by State College 35-7 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Trojans were down 35-0.
