Basketball Recap: Lincoln Northeast Victorious

If Burke wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Lincoln Northeast, they should've done a better job of containing Brynna Renard. The Lincoln Northeast Rockets took their game on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 77-37 victory over the Burke Bulldogs thanks in part to Renard, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 boards. She has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more rebounds the last nine times she's played.

Jayla Merrill was another key player, going 7 of 12 on her way to 17 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Burke's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hevin Ketchum, who posted 13 points and three steals. LaNasia Wilson also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Lincoln Northeast's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Burke, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Lincoln Northeast didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 47-32 defeat against Lincoln High on the 24th. As for Burke, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-15 loss against Bellevue East on the 28th.
