Volleyball Recap: High Tech SD Storm vs. Mira Mesa Marauders

After flying high against Canyon Hills last Thursday, High Tech SD came back down to earth. The Storm fell just short of the Mira Mesa Marauders by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Storm haven't had much luck with the Marauders recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

High Tech SD started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-14, 15-13.

Mira Mesa can attribute much of their success to Nathan Montemayor, who had 18 assists and six digs. That's the most digs Montemayor has posted over his last five contests. Jaden Cao also deserves some recognition as he had his first blocks of the season.

High Tech SD's defeat dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Mira Mesa, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. High Tech SD will take on Coronado at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Islanders will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Storm surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mira Mesa, they will head out to take on Mission Bay at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Marauders are facing the Buccaneers at the right time seeing as the Buccaneers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
