Basketball Game Preview: Cimarron Trailblazers vs. Pond Creek-Hunter Panthers

Cimarron is 1-9 against Pond Creek-Hunter since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 7:45 p.m. Cimarron knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Pond Creek-Hunter likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, Cimarron lost to Stuart at home by a 80-62 margin. While losing is never fun, the Trailblazers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Hornets are ranked fourth).

Meanwhile, after soaring to 57 points the game before, Pond Creek-Hunter was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They were outmatched by Deer Creek-Lamont and fell 75-30. The loss put an end to the Panthers' undefeated start to the season.

Cimarron's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Pond Creek-Hunter, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Cimarron came up short against Pond Creek-Hunter when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 72-65. Can the Trailblazers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
