Softball Game Preview: Ellison Eagles vs. Chaparral Bobcats

For the first time this season, Ellison will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They and the Chaparral Bobcats, after both having extra time off, will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ellison has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 13.

Ellison fell victim to Giddings and their airtight pitching crew last Friday. They came up short against the Buffaloes, falling 16-0.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chaparral). They never let Canyon Lake get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory last Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bobcats considering their one-run performance the contest before.

The win snapped Chaparral's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-5 record. As for Ellison, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.

Ellison suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Chaparral in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
