Basketball Game Preview: Williams Yellowjackets vs. Quincy Trojans

Williams is 0-3 against Quincy since December of 2014 but things could change on Friday. The Williams Yellowjackets will take on the Quincy Trojans at 5:00 p.m.

Williams is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 26th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 56-23 loss at the hands of Hamilton. The Yellowjackets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-4.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jennifer Vega Jimenez, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Giselle Torres Salazar, who earned six points.

Meanwhile, Quincy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Panthers 62-11. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 22 points or more this season.

Williams better focus on containing Madeline Blaufuss and Skylar McCarthy as the pair were huge in Quincy's win. Blaufuss put up 11 points and six steals, while McCarthy had two points along with 12 rebounds, six assists, and five steals. McCarthy has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more boards the last three times she's played. Jenna Peay was another key player, putting up seven points.

Quincy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Quincy is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Williams, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-14.

Williams was taken down by Quincy 55-9 in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. Can Williams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
