Baseball Recap: Smithsburg Extends Winning Streak to Six

Smithsburg came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Snow Hill Eagles. Considering the Leopards have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Chase Sarber, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Heath Githens, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Smithsburg's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-10. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Snow Hill, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 15-7 record.

As of now, neither Smithsburg nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
