Basketball Recap: Heritage Skates Past Centennial with Ease

Heritage had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They claimed a resounding 77-38 win over the Centennial Titans. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Coyotes' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while the Titans are ranked 509th).

Leading Heritage to victory were Daniya Souter and Grace Drummond. Souter went 7-for-10 on her way to 21 points and three steals, while Drummond shot 55% from the field to rack up 16 points. Souter has become a key player for the Coyotes: the team is 8-2 when she posts at least 15 points, but 9-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Danielle Henry, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Heritage smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Heritage's victory bumped their record up to 17-12. As for Centennial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-8.
