Softball Game Preview: Royal Knights vs. Connell Eagles

The Royal Knights will venture away from home to take on the Connell Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Royal knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Connell likes a good challenge.

On Tuesday, Royal beat Kiona-Benton 12-8. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Royal got a massive performance out of Emerson Eilers, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Eilers has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Delarosa, who went 3-for-5 with one home run and two runs.

Royal was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Connell didn't have quite enough to beat Cashmere on Friday and fell 13-12. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Royal pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.1 runs over those games. As for Connell, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Royal skirted past Connell 3-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
