Basketball Recap: West Ashley Wildcats vs. Walhalla Razorbacks

After flying high against Indian Land on Friday, West Ashley came back down to earth. The West Ashley Wildcats fell 49-42 to the Walhalla Razorbacks on Saturday.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Serenity Corley, who posted eight points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks. That's the most blocks Corley has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Ladson, who went 8 of 20 on her way to 18 points and three steals.

Even though they lost, West Ashley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Walhalla to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kami Roach, who put up 21 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. The matchup was Roach's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miley White, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards.

West Ashley now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Walhalla, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-3.

West Ashley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 38-17 win against Augusta Christian on the 30th. As for Walhalla, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-41 victory against Indian Land on the 30th.
