Baseball Game Preview: Sparta Spartans vs. Kenowa Hills Knights

The Sparta Spartans will head out to take on the Kenowa Hills Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Sparta has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Kenowa Hills will arrive with five straight victories.

Sparta fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against West Catholic on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 5-4.

Meanwhile, Kenowa Hills made easy work of Greenville on Wednesday and carried off a 14-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won 14 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Chastyn Cole was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan Gustinis, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Kenowa Hills' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-7-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Sparta, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-9.
