Basketball Recap: Manvel Snags Sixth Victory in Last Seven Games

Manvel proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 47) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Shadow Creek Sharks 61-58. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 60-50 back in December of 2024.

Several Sharks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Preston Young, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Young a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Aliyah Woodard, who posted 21 points and four steals.

Manvel is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points per game. As for Shadow Creek, they moved to 21-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Manvel has already played their next matchup (against Pearland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Shadow Creek will square off against Dawson at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shadow Creek is on a three-game streak of home wins, Dawson a eight-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
