Softball Recap: Georgetown Wins Going Away Against Marlboro County

Georgetown won the last time they faced Marlboro County and things went their way on Tuesday too. Georgetown blew past Marlboro County 13-5. Considering Georgetown has won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kylah Jordan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Imari Jordan was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Satcher Felts, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Jordan wasn't the only one making solid contact: Georgetown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Georgetown's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Marlboro County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Georgetown will head out to face off against Loris at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Marlboro County, they will venture away from home to square off against Non Varsity Opponent at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
