Softball Recap: Herrin Takes a Loss

Herrin lost against Chester back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Herrin fell just short of Chester by a score of 6-5. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sophia Schramm spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits.

On the hitting side, Madison Dickerson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Branson Hill was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Herrin's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Chester, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 4-0.

Herrin has already played their next game, an 11-1 loss against Mt. Vernon on the 25th. As for Chester, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-2 win against Shawnee on the 24th.
