Basketball Recap: Mountain View Mountain Lions vs. Roosevelt Roughriders
Mountain View was the 72-64 winner over Roosevelt when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Mountain View Mountain Lions took a 52-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Roosevelt Roughriders. The Mountain Lions were up 31-12 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
Despite the loss, Mountain View still got an impressive performance from Cole Tonniges, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. Dylan Garland was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.
Roosevelt's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nolan Peterson led the charge by dropping a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. What's more, Peterson also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brooks Reckard, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 13 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Mountain View and nudges their season record down to 11-9. As for Roosevelt, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-8.
Coming up, Mountain View will head out on the road to face off against Wellington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Roosevelt, they will be playing at home against Severance at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Severance is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.4 points per game this season.
