Baseball Recap: Watertown Triumphs

After losing to Hartford the last time they met, Watertown decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Goslings came out on top against the Orioles by a score of 4-1 on Friday. That's two games straight that the Goslings have won by exactly three runs.

Cameron Kranz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other pitching news, Ashton Johnson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

Back at the plate, Davis Cashin was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Another player making a difference was Calvin Hurtgen, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

The win made it two in a row for Watertown and bumps their season record up to 15-10. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Hartford, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-7.

Coming up, Watertown will head out on the road to square off against Waukesha West at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Hartford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
