Baseball Recap: Lapel Beats Mississinewa for Their Eighth Straight Win

Lapel had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Mississinewa Indians with a sharp 13-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 13 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Rylie Hudson, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Jaxson Cripe was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Lapel pushed their record up to 18-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Mississinewa, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7.

Coincidentally, Lapel and Mississinewa will both be playing Northfield the next time they take the field. The Indians will host the Norsemen at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Bulldogs will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
