Basketball Recap: Vincent Loomis Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Roselle

Marion P. Thomas's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They secured a 70-66 W over the Roselle Rams. For Marion P. Thomas, this counts as revenge for the 73-28 victory Roselle walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.

Marion P. Thomas' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Vincent Loomis, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 boards. The matchup was Loomis' third in a row with at least ten points. Nairi Latham was another key player, putting up 18 points and four steals.

Marion P. Thomas was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Roselle only racked up four assists.

When it comes to explaining why Roselle lost, don't look at Zaire Hopson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 34 points and 12 rebounds. Hopson is becoming a predictor of Roselle's success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 8-3 (and 1-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Brandon Puryear, who posted 13 points and five boards.

The victory snapped Marion P. Thomas' losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-10 record. As for Roselle, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
