Basketball Recap: Jace Collison's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Larimore over New Rockford-Sheyenne

If Larimore was feeling good fresh off their 64-40 takedown of Hatton/Northwood last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Larimore Polar Bears took a 58-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets on Thursday. The Polar Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rockets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Larimore's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jace Collison, who went 9 of 22 en route to 22 points and seven rebounds. That's the most boards Collison has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Baron Burns, who posted four points in addition to eight assists and five rebounds.

Larimore now has a losing record at 5-6. As for New Rockford-Sheyenne, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Larimore has already played their next match (against Wyndmere/Lidgerwood), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. New Rockford-Sheyenne will challenge Nelson County co-op [Lakota/Dakota Prairie] at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in New Rockford-Sheyenne's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
