Basketball Recap: Mason Butler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Knightstown over Tri

Knightstown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 60-51 to the Tri Titans. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 375th, while the Titans are ranked 142nd).

Knightstown's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Butler, who posted seven points along with six rebounds and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Brant Ellis, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points and three steals.

Tri got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gracen Huffman out in front who put up ten points and eight rebounds. Eli Murphy was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Knightstown's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Tri, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Knightstown will square off against Morristown at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. As for Tri, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 46-40 win against Shenandoah on the 11th.
