Basketball Recap: Oak City Prep Comes Up Short

Oak City Prep played a tough game on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 94-45 loss at the hands of the Word of God Christian Academy National Holy Rams. The Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-14.

Despite the defeat, Oak City Prep saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Amazin Dixon went 11 of 17 on his way to 24 points and seven assists. The matchup was Dixon's 13th in a row with at least ten points. Luke Rullo was another key player, going 6 for 11 en route to 16 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Word of God Christian Academy National to victory, but perhaps none more so than Marcus Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 boards. Another player making a difference was Cohen Hyatt, who went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points and six assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Oak City Prep and nudges their season record down to 6-11. As for Word of God Christian Academy National, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season.

Oak City Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 91-73 loss against New Life Christian Academy on the 28th. As for Word of God Christian Academy National, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Greater Destiny Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Word of God Christian Academy National has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
