Basketball Game Preview: Mount Miguel Matadors vs. Sweetwater Red Devils

The Mount Miguel Matadors will challenge the Sweetwater Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Mount Miguel is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Bonita Vista on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Mount Miguel came up short against Bonita Vista, falling 67-47. While losing is never fun, the Matadors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 830th, while the Barons are ranked 266th).

Meanwhile, Sweetwater had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hornets, sneaking past 55-53.

Sweetwater has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. As for Mount Miguel, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Mount Miguel won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, slipping by Sweetwater 66-65. Will Mount Miguel repeat their success, or does Sweetwater have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
