Preview: Opp Bobcats vs. Pike County Bulldogs
Opp is 8-1 against Pike County since January of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Opp Bobcats will head out on the road to square off against the Pike County Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Opp is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Opp suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Daleville by a score of 40-37.
Despite the defeat, Opp had strong showings from Josh Smith, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds, and Dorian Harris, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Harris is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alan Jones, who scored four points.
Meanwhile, Pike County waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They managed a 50-44 win over Daleville.
Opp's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Pike County, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Opp might still be hurting after the 59-37 defeat they got from Pike County in their previous meeting last Friday. Can Opp avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
