Basketball Recap: Morgyn Barcus' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Argos over North Miami

Argos lost against North Miami back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Argos Dragons fell 41-34 to the North Miami Warriors. The Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Argos' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Morgyn Barcus, who posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Alydiah Leed, who earned two points and nine steals.

Even though they lost, Argos smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matchups.

Leading North Miami to victory were Kayden Donaldson and Grace Sailors. Donaldson dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 rebounds, while Sailors almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Those 19 boards gave Donaldson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Masters, who put up three points.

Argos' defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for North Miami, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-6.

Argos will venture away from home to challenge Lakeland Christian Academy at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for North Miami, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 43-37 victory against Hamilton Heights on the 7th.
