Basketball Recap: Richlands Takes a Loss

The Richlands Blue Tornado came up short against the Fort Chiswell Pioneers on Saturday, falling 84-63. While losing is never fun, the Blue Tornado can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 338th, while the Pioneers are ranked 156th).

Fort Chiswell found their leader in freshman Owen Jackson, who went 8 for 17 on his way to 23 points and six boards. Jackson's afternoon made it 14 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Landon Eversole was another key player, going 5 of 7 en route to 14 points.

Richlands has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Fort Chiswell, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4.

Richlands wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 76-62 loss against Marion on the 28th. Fort Chiswell has also already played their next matchup, an 84-57 defeat against Auburn on the 28th.
