Baseball Recap: Cathedral Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Cathedral won against St. Bernard last Friday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Phantoms never let the Bishop Montgomery Knights get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. This was payback for the Phantoms, who suffered an 8-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The result came thanks to Nicholas Overton's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cathedral's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Luevano, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was Luevano's first of the season.

Cathedral hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Montgomery struck out six times.

Cathedral has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Bishop Montgomery, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Coming up, Bishop Montgomery will host Cerritos at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Cathedral will be paying especially close attention to the Knights' game: after the Knights faces off against the Dons, they'll take on Cathedral again at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
