Baseball Game Preview: Johnson City Wildcats vs. Binghamton Patriots

For the second straight game, Johnson City will face off against Binghamton. The Wildcats will head out to challenge the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Johnson City comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Johnson City fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Binghamton on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 7-5. Wildcats fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Patriots since on Monday.

For Binghamton's part, Brady McManus was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. McManus was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nehemiah Steele, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Bonham Vymislicky, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Binghamton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Johnson City's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Binghamton, their win ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-8.
