After flying high against Berkeley last Thursday, San Leandro came back down to earth. The Pirates took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rio Americano Raiders on Saturday. The Pirates' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Avery Stone paced San Leandro's offense, picking up four kills. Stone got some help from Collin Peav and his ten assists. Stone was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.

Rio Americano was led to victory by Adam Wixom and David McCarl. Wixom had 17 assists and three digs, while McCarl had six digs and one assist.

San Leandro's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Rio Americano, the win got them back to even at 10-10.

San Leandro has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Encinal on the 29th. As for Rio Americano, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against El Cerrito on the 29th.
