Baseball Recap: Rauner Wildcats vs. Thornton Fractional North Meteors
Rauner lost against Thornton Fractional North back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Meteors by a score of 9-8. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Carlo Alvarado was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Rauner's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 4-8 when he doesn't).
