Basketball Recap: Strauss Banes Key Part of a Team Effort in Wildcats Win

Bronaugh's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They blew past the Everton Tigers 67-42. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 76-41 two weeks ago.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bronaugh to victory, but perhaps none more so than Strauss Banes, who almost dropped a triple-double on 22 points, nine rebounds, and 12 steals. Banes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 16 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Colter Banes, who went 9 of 22 en route to 19 points along with eight boards and five steals.

Despite the defeat, Everton saw an underclassman step up: freshman Leiden Wilson posted seven points and seven rebounds. Cameron Sanders also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Bronaugh now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Everton, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Bronaugh has already played their next contest, a 74-63 loss against Golden City on the 16th. As for Everton, they will venture away from home to face off against McAuley Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
