Basketball Game Preview: Holly Wildcats vs. Walsh Eagles

The Holly Wildcats will challenge the Walsh Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Holly and four for Walsh.

Last Saturday, Holly lost to South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] on the road by a 45-28 margin.

Meanwhile, Walsh played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 58-33 to Boise City.

Holly will need to focus on slowing down Maribel Carrillo, one of several Walsh players who made an impact when they last played. She almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds. What's more, Carrillo also racked up three blocks, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ava Alley, who posted 12 points.

Even though they lost, Walsh smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Walsh's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Holly, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 5-10.

Holly was able to grind out a solid victory over Walsh in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 32-21. Does Holly have another victory up their sleeve, or will Walsh turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
