Recap: Mt. Rainier Rams vs. Kentwood Conquerors
After flying high against the Kentridge Chargers last Tuesday, the Mt. Rainier Rams came back down to earth. Mt. Rainier fell 68-59 to Kentwood on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (56), Mt. Rainier still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Mt. Rainier lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zach Luz. Despite the final result, he scored 36 points along with six assists and six rebounds. That was a full 61% of Mt. Rainier's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Emil, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Mt. Rainier's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Kentwood, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5.
Mt. Rainier will take on Kennedy Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kentwood, they will head out on the road to square off against Federal Way at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Federal Way knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 matchups -- so hopefully Kentwood likes a good challenge.
