Baseball Game Preview: Laguna Hills Hawks vs. Northwood Timberwolves

The Laguna Hills Hawks will take on the Northwood Timberwolves at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Laguna Hills 3.1, Northwood 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Laguna Hills is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Tahquitz.

The team relied heavily on Jake Kahl, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Damian Youngman, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Northwood, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Loara a 10-0 shutout on Thursday. Northwood's victory was all the more impressive since the Saxons were averaging only two runs allowed on the season.

Northwood's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-15-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Laguna Hills, their win bumped their record up to 15-13.

Laguna Hills came up short against Northwood in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 4-0. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
