Fitchburg is 2-8 against Groton-Dunstable since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Blue Raiders will square off against the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. Fitchburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Fitchburg didn't have quite enough to beat Shepherd Hill Regional and fell 5-4.

Fitchburg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ina Soini, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Groton-Dunstable came up short against North Middlesex Regional on Thursday and fell 8-4.

Groton-Dunstable's loss dropped their record down to 3-9-1. As for Fitchburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Groton-Dunstable's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fitchburg has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Groton-Dunstable, though, as they've been averaging 10.3 hits. Given Fitchburg's sizable advantage in that area, the Crusaders will need to find a way to close that gap.

Fitchburg couldn't quite get it done against Groton-Dunstable in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 11-6. Can the Blue Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
