Football Recap: St. Pius X Comes Up Short

If St. Pius X was feeling good fresh off their 34-13 takedown of St. Michael the Archangel last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors took a 27-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. James Academy Thunder on Friday. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Thunder apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Jake House was his usual excellent self, rushing for 113 yards and four TDs, while also picking up 49 receiving yards for St. James Academy. House's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 113 rushing yards. Another player making a difference was John Hornback, who rushed for 80 yards.

St. Pius X has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for St. James Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Coming up, St. Pius X will head out on the road to face off against Bishop Miege at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will be up against the Stags' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.2 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for St. James Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Blue Valley North at 7:00 p.m. The Thunder will be up against the Mustangs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.4 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
