Volleyball Recap: Gray-New Gloucester Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Gray-New Gloucester was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wells Warriors. The Patriots were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Gray-New Gloucester actually scored more points across those five sets (109-108), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 20-25, 21-25, 25-21, 16-14.

Wells' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Autumn Leslie, who had 27 assists and 15 digs. Zoe Chabot was another key player, getting 18 digs and three aces.

Gray-New Gloucester's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Wells, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gray-New Gloucester will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Yarmouth Academy at 6:00 p.m. on October 2. As for Wells, they will challenge Kennebunk at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
